We caught the biggest fish in Little Manistique Lake, and so now we can go home. We’re leaving the UP today, and going back to the work of everyday life.
This has been a wonderful vacation. Beckett has gotten to know his grandparents and they’ve gotten to know him. He’s met his great grandmothers and one of his great grandfathers. He ate his first ice cream cone at the old fashioned ice cream parlor in Curtis. And he’s fallen asleep, dead tired from days of playing in the lake.
Vacations may look a little less exotic from the outside once you have a baby. There aren’t many nights of strolling city streets, and drinking in pubs with new found foreign friends. But there are bursts of belly laughs that make you swear you’ve died and gone to heaven.
We need to do this more often.
