You know you’re officially a parent when your Christmas decorations start looking like this:

I’ve always opted for the simple candle placed tastefully in all of the windows style, but this year is different. Beckett is excited about Christmas, and can often be heard exclaiming, “SANTA CAUSE IS COMING TO TOWN!”. Have you ever noticed how toddlers have absolutely no sense of volume control when it comes to their singing voice? There are two toddler singing volumes: Off and This One Goes to Eleven.

I’m completely sucked into the Christmas season this year because I have a toddler. I tell him bedtime stories about elves and reindeer, and always include at least one round of Rudolf the Rednosed Reindeer at the end of the tale. I am ashamed to admit that I even got up and went toy shopping at 5:30am on Black Friday, just so I could get the most holiday bang for my buck.

I remember those Christmas mornings as a kid, when I just couldn’t wait to run down the stairs to see what Santa had left me. It was the most wonderful feeling in the world. And now I get to sit back and watch that magic happen all over again with Beckett. Santa is going to be good to him this year. How could he resist?
