Lazy Day Gourmet

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Because I just don’t ever have enough blogs in my life, I’ve started www.lazydaygourmet.com . This site is a gift to busy cooks everywhere. I will focus the writing on my Lazy Day Gourmet way of cooking, where you spend a few hours on a lazy day cooking, and have delicious gourmet meals in the freezer for nights when you don’t have time to prepare anything that is going to take more than 30 minutes to prepare.

It’s loosely based on Once a Month Cooking, but my methods are broken down into smaller sessions, so that if you’re interested in cooking once a week, once every other week, or once a month, the Lazy Day Gourmet way will work for you.

I hope you’ll enjoy it. And that you’ll bookmark the site. I”ll be updating regularly with new recipes, Lazy Day Gourmet weekly menus and cooking tips.

It Comes in Threes

Friday, January 19th, 2007

They say that tragedy tends to travel in packs of three.  Let’s hope that for us it stops with two…

Aunt Judy died today in the hospital in Traverse City.  She had heroically fought breast cancer and won eleven years ago, but when her cancer came back this time, it was more aggressive and harder to treat.  Judy was a wonderful, sweet, loving mother, a great sister, a grandmother, and a sweet sweet Aunt.

We just got a Christmas card from her a few weeks ago. And now she’s gone. Judy, rest in peace. You will be dearly missed by everyone who knew you.

DarnLucky Management

Wednesday, January 17th, 2007

One of my New Year’s Resolutions was to get DarnLucky.com back in ship shape in 2007. Over the past few years, I’ve changed databases, blogging software, gallery software, and created a few other management nightmares for myself, including not closing comments and letting over 9,000 comments wind up waiting to be moderated and over 20,000 spam comments to sit on the entry pages of this blog.

It’s going to take baby steps to get DarnLucky.com back in order, and I took one of those baby steps today. I migrated the old photo galleries onto this site, and you can now look at pictures from 2001 to the end of 2005. See that pretty PHOTOS! link over in the navigation menu? Well, I’ll be darned!

I will be working on loading last year’s pictures for the rest of this week, so that I can start 2007 out only being a month or two behind in my photo archiving. Praise the Lord. Amen.

The next project will include migrating all of the old entries from the two old sites, both of which are now sitting on expired URLs. That should take a week or so, and then we’ll have everything from 2001 to present day all on one URL and in one database. WOW! Won’t that be exciting? But sorry, I’m still not resurrecting the pre-Basil journal archives. So, all of you Camp Jane fans out there are just going to have to stop asking. Camp Jane is dead. Long live Camp Jane.
If you’re still reading this, chances are you’re a blogger or a nerd. Either way, wish me luck. I might need it.
