Road Trip Day Two- Kentucky to Michigan

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

We left London, KY at 5:30 this morning, and we’re well on our way across Ohio. Beckett and I slept all the way from London to Cincinnati, and woke up as Basil was pulling through downtown. Basil drove 160 miles in two hours, and got us back on track this morning. Way to go, baby.

It’s a gray day, which is fine by us. Good sleeping in the car weather.  This is Cincinnati from I-75. If you could see over the barrier, you’d see the Ohio River from the bridge we were driving over.

Here are Beckett and Basil posing with the Big Boy just outside of Cincinnati. We stopped in for a disgusting road food breakfast. Mmmm…rehydrated eggs!

Road Trip Continues

 Mr. Incredible at Cracker Barrell
Yesterday we made it from South Carolina through North Carolina, Tennessee, and to Kentucky. Beckett was in great spirits all day, as you can see here after a breakfast stop at the Cracker Barrell in Knoxville.  He calls these his Incredible glasses. This might be my new favorite picture of the Beez.

Roxie and Basil on the Road

Roxie loves to travel, but insists on being able to look out of the windshield at all times. This results in the “Get in the BACK!” battle of wills. It’s a pretty fair fight, and we both win some and both lose some.

London, KY

We stopped for the night in London, KY. I spent the afternoon and evening working from our hotel room, while Beckett and Basil went to the Sleep Inn pool. We were all pretty wiped out, and crashed early. Beckett put himself to sleep by sniffing and quietly moaning, “I wanna go home. I wanna go home.”  Road trips are hard on three year olds.

Buying a Map

You have new Picture Mail!, originally uploaded by darnlucky.

North Carolina, and an extremely tired and grumpy Basil. Basil didn’t get any sleep last night, and then we started arguing in the car about which route to take to get to Kentucky. This is Basil coming out of Convenience #5 with a map, which I insisted we stop and get.  Turns out Basil was right about the route. And, oh, how I will never forget it. :)
